Ask your MSP to take action on extreme weather

Communities across Scotland are facing a future of extreme weather as a result of climate breakdown. Fires blazing through much-loved landscapes, water scarcity and devastating floods are real threats to our homes and livelihoods.

This summer we saw emergency services, conservation bodies including rewilding organisations, community groups, gamekeepers, farmers, volunteers and others come together to tackle the devastating wildfire in the Cairngorms.

But we need to look beyond the emergency response. How we manage our land can help keep us safe from extreme weather.

Restored, wilder landscapes are more resilient – and can help keep us safer from extreme weather.

Reconnected rivers that reduce floods. Restored beaver wetlands that hold back wildfires. And revived woodlands that keep places cool in extreme heat.

Next week’s debate is your chance to make sure rewilding and nature recovery are at the heart of Scotland’s plans to respond to climate shocks.

On 30 September, Members of the Scottish Parliament will debate the tools we need to make our land more resilient. Rewilding must be part of the picture.

Will you send an email to your local MSP and ask them to back rewilding in the Members debate on 30 September? It takes 2 minutes.
